THE STORY BEHIND BLUE PYRAMID
Kuane Lanier (@nupe3k) and Johnny Evans (@bluepyramidjay) have been into fashion since they were in middle school. Johnny graduated in 2012 from Arkansas Tech University, while Kuane graduated from Mississippi Valley State University in 2013. During the summer of 2013 Kuane and Johnny decided to move to Dallas, TX. While in Dallas, TX they began to work on their business idea that they had been kicking around for 2 years. The idea centered around filling a void they felt was needed in their hometown community. After a year in Dallas, TX, Johnny and Kuane decided to quit their jobs and move back to Starkville, MS to pursue opening a mens/womens clothing store with all of the latest clothing brands. The store officially launched on November 28, 2014. Today, they still manage the website, ship orders, and answer emails.
Behind The Name
Blue Pyramid the name originated from a book that Johnny Evans read in college and also the pyramids in Egypt. The book that the word "Blue" was taken from was Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne. In the book the authors studied 150 strategic moves spanning more than a hundred years and thirty industries, Kim and Mauborgne argued that companies can succeed not by battling competitors, but rather by creating "blue oceans" of uncontested market space. Blue Pyramid is the only clothing store in the area offering a complex array of brands that can't be found within a 2 hour drive. Therefore, Blue Pyramid is operating in a "blue ocean" or uncontested market space.
The pyramids in Egypt have existed for thousands of years while still having the same "awww" factor as they had when they were first built. The pyramids also took time, careful planning, and patience to build. We envision Blue Pyramid to be a stable in the community for years to come.
